Try a hint before revealing the answer
Open one hint at a time to preserve some of the challenge.
Hint 1
Keep the chain in the same orientation while you work; rotating the whole puzzle makes the turns much harder to track.
Hint 2
Build a compact 3 × 3 base first, then fold the remaining chain around it layer by layer.
Hint 3
The final section wraps around the outside of the nearly complete cube and tucks into the last open row.
Written assembly guide
- Straighten the 27 connected cubes and choose one end as the working end shown in the diagram.
- Use diagram stages 1–4 to fold the first run into a three-cube base with an upright column.
- Follow stages 5–8 to fold the next section back over the base and start the lower 3 × 3 layer.
- Use stages 9–16 to wrap the chain around the centre, filling the first side and beginning the second layer.
- Follow stages 17–24 to turn the long upper run around the outside of the block and close the back corner.
- Use stages 25–30 to complete the top and front rows.
- At stages 31–32, rotate the final short tail around the last corner and tuck it into the open row to complete the cube.
Use the preserved diagram or video alongside these steps for exact orientation. The written guide is an original summary prepared for this archive.
