Snake Cube: What It Is and How the Solution Works
An introduction to the 27-cube Snake Cube, its connected straight and corner sections, and the layer-by-layer solution method.
The common Snake Cube is a chain of 27 small cubes connected by elastic. The elastic passes straight through some cubes and turns through others, fixing the available bend pattern while allowing each joint to rotate.
The target shape
The chain must fill a 3 × 3 × 3 cube without overlaps or empty spaces. A reliable method is to keep one fixed viewpoint and build compact layers around an initial corner.
Why solutions differ in appearance
Diagrams may start from opposite ends or show a mirrored viewpoint, but the commercial 27-cube pattern is commonly solved by the same sequence up to rotation and reflection.
