How to Approach Metal Disentanglement Puzzles
Techniques for solving wire, ring and metal disentanglement puzzles without bending or forcing the pieces.
Metal disentanglement puzzles are solved by orientation, not strength. Never widen a loop or bend a wire unless the puzzle instructions explicitly require it.
Track the openings
Identify every gap that is large enough for another part to pass through. A ring may need to pass through the same opening more than once from different directions.
Keep a fixed viewpoint
Place the puzzle on a table and describe movements as front, back, left and right. Rotating the entire puzzle can hide the fact that you have returned to an earlier position.
Reverse the route
Once a piece is removed, reconnect it immediately while the sequence is fresh. Reassembly is normally the exact reverse path.
