How Crafty Puzzles handles puzzle searches, optional photographs, external retailer links and website enquiries.
Browsing and puzzle searches
Ordinary archive browsing does not require an account. The text-description matcher works in your browser against a downloadable catalogue; the description you type is not submitted to our server for AI processing. The guided finder also runs in the browser.
Optional photo identification
When you choose to submit a photograph and consent to analysis, the image and any puzzle notes you provide are sent to our website server and to an external AI service (OpenAI) to suggest puzzle matches. We do not intentionally store the image in the website catalogue or retain a copy after processing. Our hosting provider and the AI provider may nevertheless process logs or other service data under their own policies. Please do not upload people, personal documents or sensitive information. You can instead use the text matcher without uploading a photograph.
Abuse protection and server logs
Our photo endpoint uses a temporary, hashed identifier based on your IP address to limit repeated requests. It expires from the active rate-limit window after about one hour; temporary server files and ordinary hosting logs may persist according to the host's retention settings. Server access logs may include IP addresses, requested URLs, dates, user agents and error information for security and operations.
External videos and links
Some solutions link to other websites or show a YouTube video only after you choose to load it. Amazon and eBay affiliate links take you to those retailers. Once you visit an external website, its own privacy and cookie notices apply. See our affiliate disclosure.
Cookies and analytics
This release of Crafty Puzzles does not include third-party behavioural advertising or analytics scripts. We will update this notice and provide appropriate choices before enabling optional tracking technologies. External services opened by you may use cookies on their own websites.
Emails and enquiries
If you choose to email us about copyright or significant archive corrections, we use the information you send to respond. Please use our contact page to ask about personal information you supplied or request correction or deletion where applicable.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice if the site adds analytics, advertising scripts, newsletter registration or another service that changes how visitor data is used. Last updated: 28 September 2026.
